I want to be able to start the computer using the keyboard. Not from hibernation or stand by but from a shut down state. Is there a way?

How do I start the computer with the keyboard?
There is a way but it may involve tweaking the bios and/ or the motherboard.

My motherboard supports a feature that allows me to start up (or turn ON) by pressing a key but I need to open my computer and replace a jumper into a different location to turn this on.

Some motherboards can do it by simply turning it on in the BIOS. There will be a option where it says "boot up from keyboard [disabled]" you can change this to "enabled"

Refer to your manual or check your BIOS to do this. If you bought your computer from HP, Dell, Gateway, Acer, or from any other big manufacturers, then most likely it NOT gonna have this feature. I built my pc and i can do whatever i want with it ^^
Reply:There is only one way.Grab the keyboard with both hands and with its corner press the power button! LOL

Unless you wire the keyboard there is no other way.
Reply:This isn't possible to do. The power switch on your computer is a physical switch which must be pressed to turn the computer on. In all honesty, standby mode tends to be very efficient and can make it so you never have to hit that pesky power button.
Reply:This is possible if your motherboard supports it. You need to get into your computers BIOS, generally by pressing delete repeatedly just after powering it on. When in the BIOS look for an option to Power On with keyboard, then save and exit. More than likely, if you bought a regular computer from a store, like HP, Dell ,Gateway, etc, it does not support this.
Reply:Press F1
Reply:Depends on the keyboard. There are some keyboards that have a power button on them and you have to go into the BOIS and set it up to allow the computer to be shut down and powered on from the keyboard.
Reply:please forget the question
