How do you take everything out fo your computer?

I want everything took of of a old computer i bought because i have windows xp professional to put back into it. And want nothing left of the old computer and the ppls information. Can anyone help?

If you really want to wipe out everything so that it can not be recovered by some recovery software if the laptop is ever lost I would use this program before installing windows.

This program treats your hard drive like a piece of paper and shreds it. Not literally but what it does is overwrite and move then overwrite again several times depending on what you choose. This really makes the old data gone not just over written and maybe able to be recovered.





This is really good to use if you are going to dispose of a hard drive or give a machine away.





However if you just want to reinstall the windows follow what the first person that answered said, that will do it.

The FAQ does address some things like is my hidden recovery partition protected from being destroyed with DBan.
Reply:all u have to do is put the disk in the tray when it asks you, tell it to format the drive before installing windows everything will be wiped out
