How can I tell if the computer system is messing up in my 1998 tahoe 4wd. It cut off while driving and crunk back up on its on, but when it cut off for those few seconds all my gauges went wild. The next day my battery was completely dead. After getting a jump off it ran good up until now. It cranks but now it sounds like it putters and once you hit the gas a little it idles at regular idling.

It can be ALOT of different things, most likely a senser... ecu's/ecm's dont go bad very often...
Reply:take your tahoe to a advance autoparts and have them use a obd 2 scanner. they will charge you nothing
Reply:call an autofixing shop and tell them you need you need your electronics scanned
Reply:Check your battery connections and all your engine/body grounds
