How can I add a printer to my computer with out a Windows 98 start up disk?
I'm confused. You shouldn't need a strtup disk to load a printer.

To make a startup disk. put a floppy in the drive, double click my computer, right click the A drive, click format and check the block that says make system disk.

As for the printer, go to the printer manufacturer's website, go to the support page and find the drivers for the model printer you have. Save the drivers to your desktop and run the executable file to install the drivers. Turn the printer on and print a test page.
Reply:Go to the internet site for the printer and download the drivers for win 98. But be aware that you new printer may not have support for win 98.
Reply:Unfortunately you need a startup disk. Your printer shouldn't have come without one. If you know anybody who have the same kind of printer you do, you could borrow it from them and make a copy of it just in case you may have to uninstall it and need to reinstall it later.
Reply:Go online, locate the printer's company website and download the driver directly from the website. You can avoid going through the computer. If that doesn't work, I might locate one (DISC) and send the file. What kind of printer (brand/model)?
Reply:You could check the Windows Help Site. Other than that, i suggest you upgrade your OS and you shouldn't have a problem.
Reply:Sometimes Win 98 will ask for files that are already installed. When it prompts you for a file, from that window browse to the "C" drive and then to the "Windows" folder and then to the "System" or "System32" folder. (Can't remember which one comes with Win 98).

Hopefully it will find the file within those folders. If not you will need to search for the file on-line and you mayve able to find some common files that are available on the internet.

If not I'm afraid you will have to find someone who has a Win 98 cd. You might be able to buy one cheap on eBay.

Good luck.
