How can you transfer iPod songs from one computer to another?

I just got a new computer and I want to know how to transfer the songs from the old computer to the new one. Thanks.

IF AND ONLY IF u paid for your stuff u can just download it again on any computer. however if this is not the case than the only way I know is to buy cds and transfer your music that way
Reply:Method 3 is probably best for your situation. Note: The following methods may not work for DRM protected music (i.e. music that came from the iTunes Music Store).





Transferring iTunes Music:

This method can only be used to transfer ALL songs from the iPod to the computer. It seems like a lot of steps but it will only take you a couple of minutes and you won't need third party software (and is especially convenient if you ever use a computer that is not online.)

%26gt;Double Click iPod icon.

%26gt;You will notice a progress bar indicating that the music is being transferred. Sometimes a message will pop up saying that a song is not compatible with iTunes and that it needs to convert it. Just click “OK” when this message appears.

This method is best for getting music from one computer to another.


Use your iPod as an external hard drive (note: if you do this you won’t be able to listen to any of the songs through the iPod; this method is primarily for ease of transferring music). Locate the actual music folder which iTunes uses to display/play your songs.





%26gt;For most computers its going to be in “Start%26gt;My Music%26gt;iTunes%26gt;iTunes Music.”


%26gt;After you have located the music folders open up the iPod window by going to “Start%26gt;My Computer%26gt;iPod Icon.”


%26gt;Place the windows side by side and drag the music folder into the iPod window. Now you are using the iPod as external hard drive instead of an MP3 player. If you want you can even transfer word documents and photos as well.


%26gt;Once you get to the computer in which you want to transfer the music you simply open the iPod “Start%26gt;My Computer%26gt;iPod Icon” and drag the music folders into the iTunes Library interface (the largest part of the screen which displays song name, artist, track number, etc.). Now that music is on a new computer.


%26gt;Just make sure to delete those music folders in the iPod because they will be taking up valuable space. I would make sure the songs transfer successfully first though.
