How do you transfer videos from camcorder to computer?

I know this question has been asked alot, but I need help. I'm trying to transfer video to my computer. I 've tried using a usb cord but windows movie maker doesn't recognize my panasonic pv-gs14. It keeps staying that I haven't connected any video capture device but the computer has, saying that it is connected.

I don't understand, please help!

Since USB does not work, stop using USB.

The Panasonic PV-GS14 is a miniDV tape based camcorder. Video is imported using a firewire cable connecting the DV port of your camcorder to the firewire port of your computer. If you don't have a firewire port on your computer, install one. The are cheap... and typically easy to install. Since we don't know what computer you have, it is impossible to know for sure.

Firewire, i.Link and IEEE1394a are all the same thing.

USB will not work - you already know this. A USB to firewire converter will not work.
Reply:Nu'uanu is right - the USB connection is for transferring stills, not video.
