I have a dv cam and i don't know how to get the videos off of my camera on to the computer. Do you know a program or something that you have on your computer that i can use?
Does anyone know a program on a computer that can get videos from a camera?
It depends on your camcorder and computer.
If you camcorder is an older one and has only analog connection capabilities with the AV cable, and if your computer has no video capture card but has a USB port, you will need to get an analog/digital bridge like those from Pinnacle.

If you computer has firewire, the Canopus A/D bridges are preferred.

If your camcorder is miniDV tape based you need a working firewire port on your computer and a firewire cable. Most likely 4-pin to 6-pin - but depending on the firewire port on your computer, it might be a 4-pin to 4-pin. The USB port is used only for transferring stills off the memory card.
If your camcorder is hard drive or flash memory based, you will probably connect with USB - but some JVCs use firewire.
If your camcorder is DVD based, you can either use the DVD drive in the computer and rip the DVD using something like HandBrake. This assumes your computer has a DVD drive. If not, you can use the analog AV cable like the first method used by the older analog camcorders.
Windows typically has MovieMaker and Macintoshes typically have iMovie... there are LOTS more...
Reply:no, i dont know.
Reply:The method used to transfer video from a camcorder to a computer is different for every type (tape/DVD/HDD/etc.) of camcorder and since you have not told us the type of your camcorder it is impossible to give you definitive advice - you will no doubt receive many guesses for answers - but these will only confuse you.
