How do I delete everything on my computer and start fresh again?

I am having big troubles with my computer. Last time I had these probs I downloaded a mates xp home disc, then it asked for registration so I used my xp pro disc in and all was good. I want to delete everything in my computer and start again...How do I delete everything?

First save and backup everything you want to keep.


Then restart the computer with the xp pro disc in the drive.


It should auto load into the windows installation program, if not set the boot drive to cd-rom by going into the settings... such as F2 or F12 button


When you are in the windows installation, it should ask you what drive to install windows xp to, you can select the drive and format it. This will erase everything and allow a fresh start.

Reply:why dont you try a system restore you can go back to a date when your pc was good or if you have the discs that came with your pc then insert them and go from there that will restore your system hope this helps

solve this problem.I strongly offer you to check you computer for viruses with a updated anti viruses.I nothing found then you can these ways.


if you think that your windows is repairable don't change your windows and try to repair it.don't forget that windows chaging or


deleting all information in your computer my solve your problem but it might be dangerouse for your computer.


if your windows is not repairable first make a bake up of your neccesory files and then format your hard disk and then install new windows. instaling windows was expalined by guys.

Take backup of your data from machine and format it by setting it by first boot device as rom drive and put desired Operating system CD and make a fresh installation.

Reply:Step 1. Go to the empire state building ( or a really tall building)


Step 2. Take the hard drive and drop it into the wide opan sky


Step 3. Go to Hewward Paaackard.


Step 4. Ask for a refund on your computer.


Step 5. HAPPINNES!!!! or sadness if they put ya in ja!l
Reply:Put the disc in your ROM and boot.





Press any key to boot from CD.





Wait till you get to the "Load XP on this partition".





Select the drive and click "Format". Do it on both C %26amp; D drives.





Install XP Pro on the C drive and you're home free!

Reply:juss enter ms doss mode and format ur computer(drives) while you have inserted ur new windows cd..
Reply:You should done that before you installed xp pro - it should have been clean installation and not an upgrade.





All the more, for you to delete most if not all the programs installed on your pc go to Control Panel to all Add/Remove programs. Thats where you can delete the programs one by one.





For the other programs you have to follow them to their directories e.g. My Documents, Program Files, My Music, My Pictures. Be Careful not to delete a system file (.sys or .dll).
Reply:If you have a WindowsXP disk you could put it in and start the computer up and do a fresh install by formatting the drive and installing Windows on top of that

Reply:in my comuter right click on your files and drives and then choose format after that install a new windows xp.
Reply:Restart your computer is DOS mode and type in "format C:" without the quotes. If you also have D drive repeat the above and type "format D:" this will erase every little thing in your computer. Make sure you have the genuine windows disc to re-install windows.
