What causes your labtop computer screen to flicker on and off?

I started using my notebook more for school and work, which work pays for their software. It happens everytime i turn the computer on it flickers like a light bulb that is getting ready to blow out is this normal or is there something wrong?

What causes your labtop computer screen to flicker on and off?
Connection to the screen is loose. Might be a simple fix, might not. Find someone who knows how to open and work on laptops.
Reply:That is normal in new computers , because they now have better video cards , and every time you turn on your computer , it will load the driver to give you the best performance , the way you could be happy with the performance and reallity
Reply:Hi. My piece of crap HP laptop was doing the same thing. It was still on warranty so they fixed it. Yes, I think it is the connection between the lcd monitor and the board. Hope this helps.
Reply:I'm pretty sure this is normal.

Does it flicker on, then off, and shows another screen at start-up? Because that I'm sure of.
Reply:Yeah, that sounds whacked out to me. I think you're seeing the refresh rate, but normally you can't. Time for a new one. forget about fixing that.
